Like all great ideas, it started with a question. What if we could make sure energy was affordable and available forever while protecting our planet? Our scientists are working hard to make this happen, but it doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun along the way. Hop on the CSIRO Infinity Swing and watch as your movements are converted into sustainable energy, to power our stunning light and sound installation. It’s just one way we’re turning good clean fun, into good clean energy.

We’re so glad you could join us!
Why not share to let everyone know how much you love Australian science and technology, then invite a friend to join the fun?

There are infinite sources of energy all around us, from the sun in the sky to the waves in the ocean. All we need to do is harvest this energy and we’ll power the planet forever. Sounds easy, right?
Instead of explaining how we’re using science to create a sustainable future, we decided it would be more fun to show you. The CSIRO Infinity Swing is just one of the cool experiments we’re working on, proving that one idea really can light up the world.

When’s the last time you played on a swing? We took the CSIRO Infinity Swing to the streets of Sydney and Melbourne last November and now we're heading to Brisbane in March. So grab some friends, grab a seat and start swinging for science.

Did you know that we’re behind some of the world’s greatest inventions, including Wi-Fi, Aerogard, plastic bank notes, fabric softener and the world’s first flu treatment? Our energy research is equally impressive, playing an important role in reducing our carbon footprint and building a sustainable, prosperous future for all Australians.
Our super-fast charging UltraBattery can store renewable energy and is being used in Honda’s hybrid car, the Odyssey.
We've used the solar fields at our Energy Centre to create what’s called ‘supercritical’ steam – an ultra-hot, ultra-pressurised steam that’s used to drive the world’s most advanced power plant turbines – at the highest levels of temperature and pressure EVER recorded with solar power.
How can we meet the increasing need for energy efficient housing? Our researchers have developed software to help designers and architects model, measure and compare the energy efficiency of house designs.
